About
What is LYRX
LYRX has been developed by Dr. Daniel Sparks. Dr. Sparks obtained a PhD in Medicine from the University of British Columbia, in the field of Cardiovascular Pathology. Dr. Sparks has published numerous papers over a 30-year career as a cardiovascular research scientist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Dr. Sparks has significant drug development experience and this work led to numerous medicinal inventions and issued USPTO patents. This led to the founding of the biotechnology company, Liponex, with the goal to develop cardiovascular therapeutics from natural source compounds. The company successfully completed an IPO in 2005.
How an entry gets here
Each entry starts with the published trials, not with marketing claims. The dose shown is the dose that was given to the people in the study, which is often different from what a bottle on the shelf recommends. Side effects are listed even when they were mild, because "well tolerated" in a paper still means some people felt something.
What it doesn't do
It won't tell you what to take. A dose that helped a group of people in a trial can still be the wrong dose for you, or clash with something you already take. Where the evidence is thin, the entry says so rather than hedging.
Please bring it to a professional
The most useful thing you can do with an entry here is print it or open it on your phone and say to your doctor or pharmacist: "I'm thinking of taking this — does it make sense for me?" They know your medications, your history and your bloodwork. This site doesn't.
